(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 20) – The no. 22 McKendree University men's soccer team bested the Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield 1-0 this Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats are now 10-1-2 overall and 9-0-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play and are now on a nine-game win streak.
McKendree and UIS were fairly even on the stat sheet this afternoon, with the Prairie Stars leading the Bearcats in shots 11 to ten, while also leading in shots on goal with seven to McKendree's five. McKendree made the best of their chances though, as junior forward
James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) blasted one past the UIS keeper courtesy of a
Ryan Herling (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) assist in the 29
th minute. The second half saw both teams jostling for momentum with play turning especially aggressive within the final 20 minutes as four yellow cards were distributed. Despite a late effort from the Prairie Stars, the Bearcats strode to their tenth win on the 2019 campaign.

Pachu Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay/Santa Teresa de Jesus) made seven saves in a shutout effort, while
James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) scored his second game-winning-goal of the weekend.
The men's soccer program will be back in action this Firday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. as they travel take on the Hawks of Quincy University in yet another GLVC tilt.
