(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Oct. 26) – The Mckendree University women's volleyball team lost to the University of Indianapolis, 3-0 on Saturday. The Bearcats are now 11-12 overall and 4-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
McKendree was slow on its feet to begin the match after coming off of a five set victory over Bellarmine the night before. The Bearcats were never able to recover and dropped the first set, 25-11. McKendree drastically improved in the second set, recording its highest team hitting percentage of .294 but was never able to overpower the Greyhounds, falling 25-18. UIndy went on to win the third set, 25-22 to earn the 3-0 win.
Offensive leaders for the Bearcats were senior middle blocker
Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown), junior outside hitter
Elle Russell (Festus, MO/St. Pius X), and freshman outside hitter
Maddie Misner (Carbondale, IL/Carbondale). Marks led the pack with nine kills and a .350 hitting percentage while Russell and Misner followed with seven kills each. Misner also collected three service aces.
Defensive leaders for McKendree were senior libero
Alissa Zeitelhack (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) and senior outside hitter
Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei). Zeitelhack earned 15 digs and Voss recorded 11.
McKendree will come home for a four-game home stand starting with a match against the University of Illinois Springfield on Friday Nov. 1.
