(SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Oct. 4) – The McKendree University men's soccer team extends their win streak to four and remains undefeated in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play after defeating the Panthers of Drury University this Friday evening. The Bearcats are now 5-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in GLVC competition.
 
McKendree opened up scoring just before the end of the first half in the 42^nd minute after junior midfielder Lukas Vaiciunas (Vilnius, Lithuania/Sofijos Kovalevskajos gymnasium) struck the back of the net courtesy of a Melo de Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) assist. The Bearcats would keep this momentum going through to the beginning of the second half after junior forward James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) scored on a penalty kick, giving McKendree a commanding 2-0 lead. The Panthers would score later into the second half, but was unable to match the firepower of McKendree, leaving the Bearcats victorious.
 
Overall, McKendree outshot Drury 11 to seven, with two shots on goal to the Panthers' one.
 
The men's soccer program will be back in action this upcoming Sunday, October 4 as they travel to Bolivar, Missouri to take on Southwest Baptist University in a GLVC contest.
