(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 23) – McKendree University men's soccer gears up for their program-first appearance in the NCAA Tournament as the fourth-seed in Super Region 3 as they play host to fifth-seeded Ohio Valley on Leemon field this Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
The Bearcats enter the 2019 NCAA Tournament as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) regular season champion and will be taking on the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University in the first round of NCAA play. It has been a historical year for the Bearcats men's soccer program, as they have earned several individual accolades with
Pachu Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay/Santa Teresa de Jesus),
Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College), and
James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) being named to the All-GLVC First Team,
Matthew Moran (Perryville, MO/Perryville High School) being name to the All-GLVC Second Team, while
Javi Soto (Santiago, Chile),
Ariel Cardozo (Ciudad del Este, Paraguay/Universidad San Carlos),
Mac Thomalla (Reading, England/Football Academy Bisham), and
Gonzalo Correa (Santiago, Chile/Athletic Study Center) were named to the All-GLVC Third Team. Men's Soccer head coach
Scott Gyllenborg was also named the 2019 GLVC Coach of the Year, while midfielder
Karson Huels (Waterloo, Ill.) was named the 2019 GLVC Freshman of the Year.
