TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 8) – The McKendree University men's water polo team is set to head to Erie, Penn. for the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) West Region Championships, hosted by Gannon University. The Bearcats are the No. 2 seed and will play No. 7 Monmouth College on Saturday at 11:00am ET.
 
McKendree aims to be the first team ever to repeat as champions at the MAWPC West Championship. The Bearcats defeated Washington and Jefferson College, Gannon University, and Salem University en route to their first championship as a program last season.
 
The Bearcats are 10-11 overall and finished 5-1 in MAWPC West play. With a win on Saturday morning, McKendree will face the winner of Salem University and Washington and Jefferson College at 5:00pm ET. With a loss, the Bearcats will play the loser of Mercyhurst University and Connecticut College at 2:00pm ET.
 
Heading into postseason play, sophomore Matthew Haygood (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills High School) paces the Bearcat offense with 60 goals on the season. Senior Joseph Mahan (Corinth, TX/John H Guyer High School) follows closely with 54 goals. Mahan and junior Chava Osorio (San Bernardino, CA/Cajon High School) were named to the All-Tournament team at the CWPA Division-II Championships.
