McKendree to Face Lindenwood at Home Wednesday, Quincy on the Road Thursday

(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 12) – The McKendree University will return home to face Lindenwood University Wednesday Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Statham Sports Center and then will go back on the road to take on Quincy University Thursday Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.

The Bearcats are 4-5 overall on the season after going 1-1 this past weekend to begin Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) competition. McKendree swept No. 12 Ball State University, 3-0 and then fell to No. 15 Purdue Fort Wayne in a hard fought five set battle, 3-2.

Offensive leaders for McKendree are sophomore outside hitter Patrick Ross (Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek), junior opposite Zach Schnittker (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove), and sophomore middle blocker Wyatt Dimke (Ham Lake, MN/Blaine). Ross leads the way with 70 recorded kills on the season followed by Schnittker with 62 and then Dimke is next with 47 kills tallied. Freshman setter Ryan Serrano (Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek) has accumulated 272 assists setting up the Bearcats so far this season.

Defensive efforts are led by senior libero Zack Thompson, Schnittker, and Serrano. Thompson has tallied 59 total digs, Schnittker has recorded 46, and Serrano is close behind with 45. At the net for McKendree's defense is Dimke and Serrano, each with 33 total blocks and junior middle blocker Lucas Galifos (Mokena,IL/Lincoln Way East) who has recorded 22 total blocks.

McKendree will return home for more MIVA action with No. 7 Loyola University Chicago on Feb 21 at 7 p.m. followed by a match against No. 10 Lewis University on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

ABOUT LINDENWOOD:
Lindenwood is 4-8 overall on the season and 0-2 in MIVA competition. Offensive leaders for the Lions are outside hitter Charley Hlavin with 103 kills, middle blocker Connor Hipelius with 94, and outside hitter Nick Stevenson with 77. Setter Adam Brewster has set up the Lions 363 times so far this season. Defensive leaders are libero Ben Symonds Brewster, and Hlavin. Symonds has tallied 70 digs on the season, Brewster has 53, and Hlavin is right behind with 52 total digs. Blocking leaders for the Lions are Hipelius with 47 total blocks, middle blocker Sam Schindler with 37, and Brewster with 22.

ABOUT QUINCY:
Quincy University is 4-8 overall and 0-2 in MIVA play. The Hawks' offense is led by outside hitter Omari Wheeler with 160 total kills, outside hitter Stevie Bresser with 81 tallied kills on the season, and middle blocker Blake Sprecher with 58. Setter Matt Friddle and setter Adam Rogan lead the team in assists, Friddle with 250 and Rogan with 133. Defensive efforts are controlled by libero Noam Hannoun who has recorded 105 total digs, Bresser with 61 total digs, and Wheeler with 60 on the season. At the net for Quincy's defense is Sprecher with 31 total blocks, Bresser with 26, and middle blocker Jacob Sheets with 25.
