(LEBANON, Ill., March 1)--
The McKendree University baseball team will make its Hypes Field debut this weekend with a three-game, non-conference series against Quincy University. The Bearcats and Hawks will tangle in a doubleheader Friday before wrapping up the weekend with a single game on Saturday. First pitch is set for noon both days. There will be a broadcast of Friday's twinbill on the Bearcat Sports Network at www.glvcsn.com/mckendree. Live stats will be available for all three games of the weekend series.

McKendree enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-5. The Bearcats dropped two of three games last weekend to Saginaw Valley State University in a series contested in Edwardsville, Ill. Hayden Schaefer (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) leads the McKendree offensive attack with a .467 batting average, while Matt Klosterman (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) is hitting at a .368 clip and Andrew Aydt (Wildwood, MO/Eureka) checks in at .353. Aydt and Corey Chambliss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) share the early-season lead in runs batted in with four apiece.

Levi Brening (Coon Rapids, MN/DuQuoin) picked up the Bearcats' first mound victory of the season with a strong outing last Friday against Saginaw Valley State. Brening struck out eight batters over five innings of work in a 5-3 McKendree win. Adam Bunnell (Salem, IL/Salem) pitched the final two innings of the Bearcats' win over SVSU to collect the save.

Following the weekend series with Quincy, McKendree will hit the road for four straight games, beginning with a Tuesday non-conference match-up at William Jewell College.
