(LEBANON, Ill., Mar. 24) - The McKendree University women's lacrosse team bested the visiting Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul after a dominant second half that saw the Bearcats outscore the Bears nine to five. McKendree secured their fourth win of the year by a 17-12 final, and are now 3-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.
Offensively, four Bearcats recorded at least a hat-trick in the goal column with
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic),
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional), and
Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) earning three goals apiece, while midfielder
Sarah Hardin (Pacific, MO/Eureka) accumulated four goals herself. Freshman attacker
Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern High School) led all Bearcats in points with seven, scoring two goals as well.
On the defensive side of the turf the Bearcats caused 14 turnovers, five of which came from the stick of Sugarman and three coming from senior defender
Katie Kruse (Dardenne Prairie, MO/Barat Academy). Goalkeeper
Collin Patton (Wildwood, MO/Eureka) had five saves during the winning effort.
McKendree will be back in action this Wednesday, March 27 as they travel to St. Louis to take on conference foe and first-year program Maryville University at 4 p.m.
