(LEBANON, Ill., Mar. 29) - The McKendree University women's lacrosse team ended their three-game winning streak the Friday evening after falling at the hands of 21st ranked Grand Valley State University 17-5. McKendree is now 5-4 overall and 4-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.
The Bearcats were the first to get on the board when sophomore
Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) scored on an
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) assist, however the Lakers would take over from there on. Shots from both teams stayed relatively even through 60 minutes of play with Grand Valley outshooting McKendree just 24 to 22, however the Laker goalkeeper was able to save 13 shots despite the Bearcat offensive effort.
Both freshman attacker
Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern High School) and senior attacker
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) ended with two goals each, while freshman midfielder
Oriana Johnson (Monticello, MN/Monticello High School) and senior midfielder
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) ended the game with two caused-turnovers each.
The Bearcats will be back in action this Sunday, March 31 when they wrap up their Michigan road trip against Davenport in Grand Rapids at 11 a.m. CST
