Women's Lacrosse Bests Davenport 18-11 After Second Half Surge

(LEBANON, Ill., Mar. 31) - The McKendree University women's lacrosse team defeated the Panthers of Davenport University 18-11 on the road earlier this Sunday. The Bearcats are now 6-4 on the year and 5-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) play.

McKendree out-scored Davenport in the first half 9-6 and the second half 9-5, as well as outshooting the Panthers 35-25 thru 60 minutes of play. In the second half, momentum was all in favor of the Bearcats after scoring four of the first five goals on the half, all of which came within the first 10 minutes of recommenced play.

Sunday's victory was highlighted by superb offensive play from McKendree, which included five-goal performances from both freshman attacker Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern High School) and sophomore midfielder Sarah Hardin (Pacific, MO/Eureka). Albrecht also led the entirety of McKendree with a staggering 10 points, followed by both senior attacker Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) and sophomore midfielder Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) who each recorded five points. Also joining in on the offensive scoring spree, senior midfielder Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) added three goals and an assist while junior attacker Kayla Smith (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) recorded one goal in the Bearcat win.
