(ST. CHARLES, Mo., Apr. 3) - Despite a formidable offensive effort in the second half , the McKendree University women's lacrosse team ultimately fell to no. 4 Lindenwood University the past Wednesday night. The Bearcats are now 6-5 overall on the season and 5-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) play as they head back into conference play this upcoming weekend.
The Lions of Lindenwood jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and was able to maintain their goal advantage through the first half, having an answer to every Bearcat goal scored. McKendree headed into halftime trailing the Lions 10-4 with Bearcat goals coming from midfielder
Sarah Hardin (Pacific, MO/Eureka) with two, as well as seniors
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) and
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) with one goal each.Â
The second half saw the Bearcats exploding on the offensive end by going on a four-goal run, as well as holding the fourth-ranked Lions scoreless until the 15th minute of second half play. Even though the Bearcats outscored LU 5-3 in the second period, McKendree was not able to recapture the lead from Lindenwood and suffered a 13-9 defeat. Bearcats

Clara Andrews (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall High School) made 10 saves.Â
The Bearcats will be back in action this Friday, April 5 when they travel to Ashland Ohio to take on GLIAC foe Ashland University for the second time this season.
