(LEBANON, Ill., Apr.14) - The McKendree University women's lacrosse team upended the Flyers of Lewis University 19-0 on Leemon Field Sunday afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tilt. Eight different Bearcats earned at least one point in the victory with McKendree now improving to a 8-6 overall and 7-3 GLIAC record.
Offensively, the Bearcats were led by senior attacker
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) who earned seven points on three goals and four assists, followed by sophomore midfielder
Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) who tabbed six points on four goals and two assists.
The Bearcats earned their first shutout of the season as well, with senior midfielder
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) causing five turnovers and freshman goalkeeper
Clara Andrews (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall High School) earning one save in the win.
McKendree will be back in action next Wednesday, April 24 as they travel up to Romeoville, IL for their second GLIAC contest against Lewis.
