(DAYTON, Ohio, April 17)—McKendree University junior
Breanna Clemmer (Clover, SC/Clover) notched two more victories on Wednesday in match play at the 2019 Intercollegiate Singles Championships being held at Poelking Lanes South in Dayton, Ohio.
Clemmer, the No. 14 seed in the 24-bowler field after Tuesday's qualifying rounds, knocked off third-seeded Maria Bulanova of Vanderbilt University and No. 6 seed Rachel Strogin of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Wednesday morning to earn a spot in the tournament semifinal round which will be held on Saturday. The semifinals and finals for both the men's and women's division of the Intercollegiate Singles Championships will be taped for broadcast CBS Sports Network later in April.
After posting a victory over Kayla Johnson of Long Island University-Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon in the opening round of match play, Clemmer advanced into a second-round meeting against Bulanova. Bowling in a three-game set where total pin fall determines the winner, Clemmer posted a 78-pin victory, 631-553, to defeat Bulanova and advance into the quarterfinal round against Strogin. Clemmer continued her strong play for the week by rolling past Strogin, 673-611, to claim her spot in the national semifinals.
During her three victories in match play at the Intercollegiate Singles Championship, Clemmer has averaged 215.67. This is Clemmer's second appearance in the ISC field. She reached the quarterfinal round during the 2017 event held in Baton Rouge, La.
The semifinal round for the women's division for the 2019 Intercollegiate Singles Championships is scheduled for Saturday at 3:15 p.m. ET (2:15 p.m. CT).
