SMYRNA, Tenn. – McKendree Women's bowling finished 20th at the Music City Classic this past weekend, hosted by Vanderbilt at Smyrna Lanes.
The tournament started off with five baker matches on Friday, which the Bearcats went 2-3 beating Wright State and Carthage College to end day one.
Five traditional matches followed on Saturday. The team went 2-3 once again, beating Maryland Eastern Shore and University of Indianapolis.
Individually, Cierra Brown led the team finishing in 69th with a 188.6 average through five games. Jaycie Smith also finished within the top 100, closing in at 95th averaging 175.6. With four accredited games, Emma Zinn, Addysen Case, and Shanna Kimball finished with 192.5, 187, and 186 averages, finishing 128th, 131st, and 133rd respectively. Grace Ogle closed out the individual scoring with three accredited games averaging 183.
To close out the tournament, McKendree was seeded 20th going into the championship bracket. The team ended up losing in a closely contested first match, losing 4-3 to Wisconsin-Whitewater. This would put them in a match against 22nd seed, Fairleigh Dickinson, which they would be on the right side of the seven-game series winning 4-3.
The last match of the tournament would be against 18th seed Belmont Abbey College, where they would once again go to a seven-game series losing 4-3.
This would put them finishing back in 20th place with a total pinfall of 13,140 and a match record of 5-8.
NEXT UP
McKendree will be traveling to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the USBC ISC and ITC Sectionals. They will be held March 13th through the 15th at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes.
