(BLOOMINGTON, Ind., April 20) – The McKendree University women's water polo team traveled to Indiana University for its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats were defeated by the Division-I team, 14-4 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center.
                                       
The Bearcats close the regular season out at 11-13 overall, setting a new program high in wins.
 
Indiana jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first period before junior Brianna Mullalley (Chula Vista, CA/Eastlake High School) put McKendree on the board. Just a minute later sophomore Emily Westlove (Naperville, IL/Naperville Central High School) cut the lead to two but the Hoosiers would quickly answer back to take a 5-2 lead after the opening period.
 
The Bearcat defense held strong in the second period by only allowing two goals. Westlove was able to net the only goal for McKendree in the period, her second of the game. Indiana carried a 7-3 lead into halftime.
 
Once again, McKendree slowed Indiana down in the third period as the Hoosiers were only able to net two goals. Mullalley recorded the lone goal in the period, and the Bearcats last of the game as Indiana went on to put five more on the board in the fourth to take a 14-4 win over McKendree.
 
Next up for the women's water polo team is the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championships in Geneva, Ohio on April 25-27.
