(LEBANON, Ill., April 26)--The McKendree University baseball team will wrap up its five-game, weeklong road trip this weekend with a three-game series at Rockhurst University. The Bearcats and Hawks have made a slight adjustment to their schedule due to impending weather as the teams will play a single game Friday night before finishing up with a doubleheader on Saturday.
McKendree (9-33, 6-21 GLVC) has started the week with a pair of strong efforts. The Bearcats took NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State University down to the wire in a 4-1 loss in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Tuesday. A night later, McKendree matched a season-high with 13 hits in a 14-9 setback against Lindenwood University. The Bearcats overcame a 7-0 deficit with nine unanswered runs to grab a 9-7 advantage in the sixth inning against the host Lions.
Bryce Emery (Harrisburg, IL/Harrisburg) continues to lead McKendree with a .350 average.
Drew Reich (Charlestown, IN/Charlestown) has a team-best nine homers and 23 RBI.
Matt Klosterman (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) leads the Bearcats with nine stolen bases. On the mound,
Ryan Vogt (Ava, IL/Trico) has struck out 45 batters in just 40 2/3 innings of work for McKendree.
Following the weekend series, McKendree will return to Hypes Field for its final four games of the year. The Bearcats will host Lindenwood Wednesday afternoon before entertaining Drury University in the final GLVC series of the regular season for both squads Friday and Saturday. McKendree will hold its Senior Day activities on Saturday at Hypes Field.
