(ASHLAND, Ohio, Apr. 5) - The McKendree University women's lacrosse team put on a dominant performance against the Eagles of Ashland University, posting a 25-2 victory over their fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) competitors. The Bearcats are now 7-5 overall on the season and 6-2 in GLIAC play.
The McKendree offense erupted once more this season, scoring eight unanswered goals within the first 10 minutes of play. The Bearcats would maintain that momentum through 60 minutes while only sacrificing two goals. Senior attacker
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) led the way for the Bearcats, scoring six goals and accumulating nine points while fellow Bearcats
Sarah Hardin (Pacific, MO/Eureka) and
Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern High School) were close behind, each scoring five goals themselves. Defensively, senior midfielder
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional), while also earning her own hat-trick, caused six turnovers and scooped up three ground balls. Goalkeepers
Clara Andrews (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall High School) and Colin Patton combined for five saves, with Andrews making four and Patton making one.
The Bearcats will be back in action this Sunday, April 7 at 11 a.m. CST when they travel to Indianapolis, IN to battle UIndy in another GLIAC duel.
