(LEBANON, Ill., April 30)--A slight alteration to the McKendree University baseball schedule has moved the Bearcats' final non-conference game of the 2019 regular season to Lindenwood University. The game was originally slated to take place at McKendree's Hypes Field, but was moved due to the projected weather forecast on Wednesday. First pitch has been moved back to 4 p.m. between the Bearcats and Lions. McKendree will be considered the home team for Wednesday's match-up.
McKendree enters the final week of 2019 regular-season play with a record of 11-34. The Bearcats won two of three games this past weekend in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Rockhurst. McKendree took both ends of a Saturday twinbill in Kansas City, winning the opener 5-4 in 11 innings before clipping the Hawks in the nightcap, 4-3. Lindenwood is 25-21 on the year after winning two of three games last weekend at Northwest Missouri State University.
This will mark the second game between McKendree and Lindenwood in the last seven days. Back on April 24 in St. Charles, the Bearcats overcame a 7-0 deficit to grab a 9-7 advantage after 5 1/2 innings of play, only to see the Lions rally for a 14-9 victory.
Following Wednesday's contest against Lindenwood, McKendree is slated to wrap up the 2019 regular season at home with a three-game GLVC series against Drury University. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday before meeting for a nine-inning affair on Saturday. Prior to Saturday's game, McKendree will honor 13 seniors in a special pre-game ceremony.
