(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 22) – The McKendree University men's soccer team earns their first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) victory of the season after topping the Greyhounds of the University of Indianapolis this Sunday evening. The Bearcats are now 2-1-2 overall and 1-0-2 in GLVC play.
 
In a game that was virtually even on all fronts; both teams with 11 total shots each (the Bearcats leading in SOG with seven to UIndy's six), six saves for each goaltender, and four corners for each bench, the deciding goal did not come until the 96^th minute of play when a breakaway chance for McKendree was initially set up by junior forward James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School). Stone's lead pass to midfielder Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College) would ultimately set up a wide-open Gonzalo Correa (Santiago, Chile/Athletic Study Center) who rocketed the golden goal into the back of the Greyhound net. Goalkeeper Brett Niedzweicki made six saves in the shutout performance.
 
The men's soccer program will be back in action this Friday, September 27 as the Tritons of the University of Missouri-St. Louis come to Lebanon in a matchup beginning at 7:30 p.m.
