Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Stone Nets Two as Men’s Soccer Coasts to a 4-0 Victory Over UMSL

(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 27) – The McKendree University men's soccer team dominated the visiting Tritons of the University of Missouri – St. Louis 4-0, scoring twice in each half. The Bearcats are now 3-1-2 overall and 2-0-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play.
 
McKendree opened up scoring early in the seventh minute after forward James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) punched one into the back of the net off an Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College) assist. Though, the Bearcats were not finished for the first half. Senior Javi Soto (Santiago, Chile) would score his second career goal in the 41st minute after being awarded a penalty kick. McKendree entered the second half with already sizable lead but was not finished. Stone scored once again, this time with the help of Gonzalo Correa (Santiago, Chile/Athletic Study Center), and Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College) put the nail in the coffin in the 83rd minute, courtesy of an Diego Tapia-Fraites (Hong Kong/YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College) assist.
 
Overall, McKendree outshot UMSL 17 to five with eight shots on goal in comparison to the Tritons' two. Goalkeeper Brett Niedzwiecki (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville High School) made two saves in the shutout effort.
 
The men's soccer program will be back in action this Sunday, September 29 as they play host to the Lions of Lindenwood University in a matchup beginning at 2:30 p.m.
