(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 27) – The McKendree women's soccer team earned a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) victory this Friday evening after defeating the Tritons of the University of Missouri – St. Louis 2-0. The Bearcats are now 5-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in GLVC play.
Despite heading into halftime in a scoreless tie, the Bearcats pushed the tempo of the game through the entirety of its 90 minutes, outshooting the Tritons 26 to three with 15 shots on goal to UMSL's two. McKendree was able to finally capitalize on their offensive success in the 70
th minute of play, after sophomore
Riley Ross (Springfield, IL/Rochester High School) put one past the Triton goalkeeper, courtesy of a
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West High School) assist. The second and final goal of the match would come in the 80
th minute, this time off the boot of freshman Linette Leuschow, assisted by
Emma Knoebel (Maryville, IL/Collinsville High School).
The women's soccer team will be back in action this Sunday, September 29 at noon as they play host to fellow GLVC foe Lindenwood University.
