(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 29) – The McKendree women's soccer team remains undefeated in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play after defeating the Lions of Lindenwood University 1-0 this Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats are now 6-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in GLVC competition.
 
The Bearcats scored the first and only goal after Senior Kate Bixby (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North High School) took advantage of a breakaway opportunity, sending one past the Lindenwood goalkeeper in the 30^th minute of play. However, the Lions had their share of scoring opportunities, out-shooting the Bearcats 13 to ten. The McKendree defense was prepared, though, negating all of Lindenwood's scoring opportunities. Senior goalkeeper Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering High School) made six saves in a shutout effort.
 
The women's soccer team will be back in action this Friday, October 4 as they travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on the Panthers of Drury University in another GLVC matchup.
