(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Sep 6) – The McKendree University men's soccer team improved dropped their first contest of the season to the No. 19 Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State University Saturday night by the score of 2-0 after a second-half surge from the Cardinals. The contest was played in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Bearcats and Cardinals were virtually even on the stat sheet, with six and seven total shots respectively and three apiece on goal. The Bearcats' three shots on goal came from the boots of junior forward
Gonzalo Correa (Santiago, Chile/Athletic Study Center), and junior mids
Lukas Vaiciunas (Vilnius, Lithuania/Sofijos Kovalevskajos gymnasium) and
Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College), but were unable to find twine. Redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Pachu Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay/Santa Teresa de Jesus) picked up one save despite recording a defeat.
The men's soccer team look to go 1-1 on the weekend this Sunday, September 8 at noon ET as they take on the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University back on the campus of the University of Indianapolis.
