(O'FALLON, Ill., Jan. 17) – The McKendree University women's hockey team opened up the second half of its season with a 1-0 victory over the visiting Minutewomen from the University of Massachusetts.
 
The Bearcats advance to 10-6 overall on the season.
 
After two periods of scoreless play, junior Callie Hoadley (Hanover, MA/Hanover High School) scored the game-winning goal on a backhand with four minutes remaining in the game. Hoadley was set up by seniors Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND/) and Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central).
 
Sophomore goalie Naomi Leasck (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School) was a wall in the crease, stopping all 27 shots from the visitor.
 
The Bearcats will be back at it again tomorrow afternoon at home against Midland University. Puck drop is slated for 2:30pm at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.
