Alexander Skinner (Namibia, Africa/Windhoek Afrikaans Private School) was named PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Athlete of the Week for his performance during McKendree's last home meet on Jan. 24-25 against UMSL and Bellarmine. This marks the second straight week the Bearcats have garnered the award as senior
Matija Pucarevic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sixth Belgrade Grammar School) was the recipient last week.
This is the second time Skinner has received nomination, the first coming last season on Jan. 19, 2019.
Skinner played a huge part in McKendree's 4-0 weekend over UMSL and Bellarmine. He secured wins in all five events he competed in.
Skinner placed first in two individual events and three relay events. In the 50, 100 freestyle, he finished with times of 20.59 and 44.81. He posted a 19.93 split in the freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay, 19.84 split in the 200 freestyle relay, and 45.26 split in the 400 freestyle relay. All five of his times meet NCAA Qualifying Standards.
The Bearcats have a few weeks off before heading to the GLVC Championships on Feb. 12-15 in Crawfordsville, Ind.
