EVANSVILLE, Ind. – McKendree Men's Swim and Dive ended its season at sixth in the nation after the last day of Division II Nationals at the Deaconess Aquatic Center Saturday night.
The 100-yard freestyle saw Vova Gavrysh earn another All-American finish at fifth with a time of 42.91. Tyson Upton finished within the top 25 at 23rd, stopping the clock at 44.13. Daniel de Oliveira and Phineas Theall finished 30th and 41st with times of 44.47 and 44.84 respectively.
Nojus Bertulis made it to the consolation final in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing in 15th place earning him a spot on the second team All-American in the event. He finished with a time of 1:59.82. Tyler Bardak was just outside the top 25 with a 26th place finish and a time of 2:03.11.
In the 200-yard backstroke Caden Brooks had a time of 1:46.38 earning him 23rd place in the event.
In the 1650-yard freestyle Jakub Rynkiewicz earned an 18th place finish with a time of 15:31.17. Miguel Carvalhosa was closely behind him with a time of 15:40.19, which earned him a spot at 23rd.
To finish nationals the group of Gavrysh, De Oliveira, Theall and Upton combined for a school record breaking time of 2:52.32 in the 400-yard freestyle relay to get third place in the event.
The team concluded its season with a total of 246.5 points to put time sixth in the nation at the Division II level.
