(MARQUETTE, Mich., Feb. 15) – The McKendree University women's lacrosse team bested the Wildcats of Northern Michigan by a score of 17-11 this past Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats are now 1-0 in their 2020 campaign.
The Bearcats closely trailed Northern Michigan at the half by a 7-6 deficit, though they were able to turn the momentum around in the second in order to secure a season-opening victory. McKendree's offensive efforts were led by sophomore attacker
Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern High School), who had a 11-point day which consisted of seven goals and four assists. Junior
Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) also tallied eight points with five goals and three assists. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper
Clara Andrews (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall High School) made 12 saves in an effort to secure a Bearcat victory.
Women's lacrosse will be back in action this upcoming Sunday, February 23 as they open competition on Leemon Field against the Flames of Lee University at noon.
