(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Feb. 27) – The McKendree University men's basketball team fell to No. 15 Indianapolis in a high scoring contest on the road 96-91. The Bearcats are now 14-13 overall on the season and 9-10 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) competition.
McKendree took a lead early on in the first half and held onto it going into halftime 44-40. The Bearcats outshot the Greyhounds in the first half with a 48.28 shooting percentage from field goal range. Competition remained close amongst McKendree and Indianapolis until the final few minutes of competition as UIndy went on to win 96-91.
Senior guard
Logan Kohrmann (Bartelso, IL/Breese Central) led the Bearcats in scoring with 25 points in the game. Junior guard
Oliver Stephen (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) and freshman forward
Bryson Bultman (Nashville, IL/Nashville) also tallied double-digit points in the game, Stephen with 22 and Bultman with 16 points. Bultman was also a leader in assists on the night with six on the night.
Eight different Bearcats recorded rebounds in the game. Kohrmann led the way for the Bearcats with five rebounds and then Bultman and freshman forward
Jakobie Robinson (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) were next, each with four rebounds.
The Bearcats' bench outscored the Greyhound's bench 35-7. As a team, McKendree also recorded a higher shooting percentage than Indianapolis at field goal range with 51.9 percent, at field goal range at 50 percent, and at the free throw line at 73.9 percent.
McKendree will close out the 2019-20 regular season with a game at Bellarmine University on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 3 p.m. ET in Louisville, Ky.
