(LEBANON, Ill., - Sept 3.) - McKendree University head coach Tim Strange welcomes 13 new student-athletes to the women's soccer roster for the 2020-21season.
The offensive side of the recruiting class consists of five forwards and three midfielders.
"I think one of my former assistant coaches said it to me best, and that's we build from the back, and we move forward," said Strange. "I think we're solid in the back, the midfield is great, but now we're starting to get some of that fire power (to the offense)."
"Some of the players can make a difference, score some goals, and give is the attack we need. We have some veterans coming back in that area, but now, the players who are coming in to make a difference, will come in and make that difference," added Strange.
Madie Caito (Alton, IL/Alton) - Midfield
The freshman comes from Alton, Ill., where she played at Alton High School. During her first two seasons at Alton, Caito was a part of the their Regional and Sectional Championships. She was named All-Conference in her junior and senior seasons.
Katelyn Grandcolas (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) - Midfield/Forward
The sophomore comes from Belleville, Ill., where she spent her first year at University of Missouri - St. Louis. Before her collegiate career, Grandcolas played at Belleville West High School, where she scored a combined career-high 17 goals and added nine assists. During her senior season, Grandcolas set a career high with seven assists, and was named Second Team All-Conference.
Destiny Johnson (Maryville, IL/Collinsville) - Midfield/Forward
The freshman comes from Maryville, Ill., and played at Collinsville High School. Johnson scored a combined 17 goals and 14 assists, including a 10-goal season as a sophomore and a career high seven assist as a junior. She was also named First Team All-Conference (senior), Second Team All-Conference (junior), and Third Team All-Conference (sophomore).
Reagan Mauch (Columbia, IL/Columbia) - Midfield
The freshman comes from Columbia, Ill., where she played at Columbia High School. Mauch was a part of Columbia's 2019 State Championship team and finished second place in 2019 Missouri State Cup. Additionally, Mauch played for J.B. Marine Soccer Club.Â
Kaylee McClanahan (Springfield, IL/Springfield Southeast) - Forward
The senior comes from Springfield, Ill. where she played three seasons at MacMurry College. Before her collegiate career, McClanahan Springfield Southwest High School. McClanahan appeared in 31 games, including 29 starts, scored nine goals, and added one assists in her final two seasons at MacMurry. At Springfield Southwest, McClanahan scored a combined 25 goals and added 10 assists, which led her to being named Offensive Player of the year in 2015 and 2016.
Tessie Naumovich (Springfield, IL/Rochester) - Forward
The freshman comes from Springfield, lll., Where she played at Rochester High School. Naumovich scored a combined 31 goals and 33 assists in three seasons, including a 12-goal freshman season and a 15-assist junior season. Naumovich was a two-time All-Conference honoree and an All-Sectional honoree.
Katie Spotanski (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) - Midfield
The freshman comes from St. Peters. MO, where she played at Fort Zumwalt South High School. Spotanski was apart of two District Championships, and Fort Zumwalt South's first -ever Final Four appearance, where they finished third in the state. Spotanski's scored six goals and added 13 assists in three seasons, including being a three-time Second Team All-Conference honoree.
Anna Stiffler (O'Fallon, MO/St. Dominic) - Midfield/Forward
The freshman comes from O'Fallon, MO, where she played at St. Dominic High School. Stiffler was a part of the 2019 Missouri State Championship team She was also named First Team All-State and First Team All-Region.
