(Jan. 29, Elsah, Ill.) – Mya Watson-Blake (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) and Madelyn Tepe (Venedy, IL/Okawville) won multiple events to lead the McKendree University women's track & field team to a first-place finish at the TRXC Timing Season Open at Principia College. 
 
The Bearcats were one of five teams at the meet along with Greenville University, Fontbonne University, the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, and Williams Wood University.
 
"I'm happy with the team effort overall. We had some good performances and also areas to improve," McKendree Unviersity track & field head coach Agne Eggert said.
 
Watson-Blake won the high jump at 1.61 meters and 200 meter-dash at 27.60 seconds, while Tepe won the 800-meter dash at 2:27 and the mile run at 5:39.
 
Other first place finishes include Nadia Johnson in the weight throw at 15.15 meters and Azlynn Sherrod-Butler (East Moline, IL/United Township) in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.24 seconds
 
Second place finishes included A'Ja Nauden in the 60-meter dash, Kayla Tirey (Collinsville, IL./Collinsville) in the 800-meter dash and Madison Davis (Du Quoin, IL/Du Quoin) in the 200 meter-dash.
 
Third place finishes included Watson-Blake in the 60-meter dash, Madelyn Daiber (Pocahontas, IL/Greenville) in the shot put with a new personal record of 12.05 meters, and Nauden in the 200 meter-dash.
 
The Bearcats will head back to Principia College next Friday, Feb. 12 to compete in its second meet of the season.
