LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's soccer dropped back-to-back matches with a loss on Friday night to Lindenwood, 0-3. The Bearcats remain in the hunt to host Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament contests and currently sit in fifth place.
McKendree was out-paced by the Lions, with a Lindenwood goal coming in the 12th minute of action off of a misplayed ball by the Bearcat defense, which would eventually become the game-winner. The Bearcats had trouble with establishing a consistent attack during the first half with only two shots and two corner kicks in the first 45. Overall, McKendree struggled to keep the ball in the attacking half and was out-shot 18-9 by the Lions.Â
Of the nine total shots by the Bearcats, only two were sent on-frame with freshman midfielder
Philipp Schmidt and sophomore midfielder
Fetiol Hyke each recording one on goal shot. Six other Bearcats collected at least one shot with senior forward
Gonzalo Correa firing two total shots while senior forward
James Stone, junior midfielder
Karson Huels, junior defender
Cole Gerstenberger, freshman defender
Christoph Gruber, and freshman forward
Findlay Cook all added one shot each.Â
Senior keeper
Alvaro Cortazar grabbed four saves on the night but took the loss in the full-time match. Cortazar moves to 7-4-3 this fall with the unfavoable result.Â
