LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball collected a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) victory over Missouri S&T to open the Halloween weekend slate. The Bearcats dropped the initial set of the match but managed to take the contest with a thrilling fifth-set win.
McKendree entered the match on a three-match skid but snapped the losing streak behind three double-digit kill performances and five double-digit dig performances. Junior outside hitter
Maddie Misner led the McKendree attack with 14 kills and 15.0 points on a .250 attack percentage. Sophomore outside hitters
Brianna Binder and
Colleen Preusser were the other two Bearcats to record double-digit kills in the five-set win with Binder blasting 12 and Preusser collecting 11. Misner added 11 digs and two blocks in her efforts as well. Binder amassed 14.5 points while laying out for 16 digs and sending two service aces. Preusser was narrowly behind Binder with 14 total points while collecting 12 digs and two service aces.
Junior setter
Macy Tongate recorded 39 assists in the win while also tying Binder for the team-lead in digs with 16. She also added three blocks and one service ace.
Defense was an across the board effort with five collecting 10-plus digs and six Bearcats adding at least one block. Junior middle blockers
Claire Diercks and
Sarah Porter both led the Bearcats in at-the-net defense with four blocks each. Porter added nine kills while Diercks collected four.
With the win, the Bearcats marked eight-straight victories over the Miners. The winning streak dates back to October 2014.
