INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University women's soccer sophomore midfielder
Anna Stiffler earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks following the Bearcats' 2-0 weekend and fourth-straight victory. The sophomore added to her team-leading point total while collecting four points over the two-win weekend.
This is the third time Stiffler has received the award in her career. She won it last week (
9/27/21) after she had a hand in all goals over the weekend (socring and assisting) while the first weekly honors of her career came during the spring 2021 season (
3/1/21) after her first collegiate action with one goal and one assist.
Stiffler, a product of St. Dominic, added a second game-winner to her resume this fall in the first overtime against William Jewell. The midfielder fired two goals in the match with the Cardinals with her first score working as an equalizer in the 18th minute of the first half, knotting the contest up at one goal a piece. Stiffler fired the golden goal in the 98th minute of action, clinching the match for the Bearcats. Her game-winning goal was assisted on by junior midfielder
Allison Frederking while the midfielder's first goal was assisted on by senior forward
Morgan Cervera. With her two-goal performance against the Cardinals, she leads the team in total goals and points with four and 11. Four of her five shots over the weekend were on-frame with two making it past the opposing keeper.
The O'Fallon, Missouri-native owns four goals on the year with three coming during the Bearcats' four-match winning streak, which dates back to the Quincy matchup (9/24). Her four goals this fall are tied for third-most this fall in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. She has dished out three assists, including two against Illinois Springfield on September 26. Her three assists are tied for the most in the GLVC with 0.30 per game. The sophomore also has two game-winning scores this season with one against William Jewell and the other against Quincy, which was a breakaway strike in the closing minutes of regulation. Stiffler's teammate, senior midfielder
Emma Knoebel, also owns two game-winners on the season.
