(LEBANON, Ill. – Feb. 10) – The McKendree University men's volleyball team will open a two-game home series with the Ohio State University. The Bearcats will take the court on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 PM, and again on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 PM.
Nickie Sanlin's team is 3-0 (2-0 in MIVA) heading into this week's two-game series. In their road matchup, McKendree swept MIVA rival Lindenwood in three sets, in back-to-back matches. The Bearcats recorded 34 kills with a .217 hitting percentage.
Ethan Carroll (Barrington, IL/Barrington) led the offense with nine kills and recorded four assists. Both
Zach Schnittker (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) and
Patrick Ross (Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek) recorded two service aces.
Tommy McGrath (Paradise Valley, AZ/Brophy College Prep) had seven blocks, followed by
Lucas Galifos (Mokena,IL/Lincoln Way East) with four, and Schnittker with three.
Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, AZ/Boulder Creek) led the team with 26 assists and 11 digs, followed by MIVA defensive player of the week
Francisco Comas (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) who had eight digs.
About Ohio State University
The Ohio State University is 2-4 (1-1 in MIVA) so far this season after dropping three sets to No.3 Lewis on Saturday afternoon. An error by the Buckeyes in the final point of the first set gave Lewis the 25-23 edge. The Buckeyes would go on a 6-1 run to take a small lead over Lewis in the second set, but Lewis took the final three points of the set for the 25-21 win.
