(Lebanon IL-Feb 12)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team takes the field for the first time this year when they travel to Cleveland, Tenn to take on Lee University and Young Harris College this weekend.
The Bearcats finished last year's season with four wins prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Bearcats to cancel the rest of the season.
McKendree will be led this year by the junior duo of attacker
Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern) and goalkeeper
Clara Andrews (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall). Albrecht finished last years shortened campaign with 16 goals and 11 assists, while Andrews finished the season with a .430 save percentage.
On the sidelines, head coach
Melissa Gyllenborg enters her seventh season at the helm for the Bearcats, coming into the season with 62 career wins at McKendree.
The Bearcats first home game of the season is on March 1st when Regis University comes to Leemon field for a 4 p.m. competition.
GLVC competition begins on March 14
th when the Bearcats travel to Rockhurst University for a 4 p.m. showdown.
