(Cleveland Tenn. Feb 14)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team improved its record to 2-0 with a 17-8 victory over Young Harris College.
The Bearcats struck first with sophomore
Kathryn Albrecht (Louisville, KY/Eastern) scoring her first goal of the afternoon 54 seconds into the contest, and the Bearcats never looked back.
Seniors
Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) and
Sarah Hardin (Pacific, MO/Eureka) followed suit for the Bearcats, with Skachenko scoring shortly after Albrecht off an assist from fifth year student
Kayla Smith (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township). Hardin scoring six minutes after Skachenko off an assist from sophomore
Sydney Tiemann (Eureka, MO/Eureka).
Also getting in on the action in the first half for the Bearcats was Tiemann with two goals of her own, and senior
Jess Morey (Loveland, OH/Loveland) contributed a goal, helping the Bearcats get a 10-3 going into halftime.
Young Harris scored the first two goals of the second half, but Hardin got the Bearcats started in the second half, scoring with just under 7 minutes into the period, as well as later in the half with just over 15 minutes left.
Skachenko, Tiemann, Smith and Albrecht all added goals in the second half for the Bearcats.
Albrecht finished a game high six goals as well as an assist. Hardin added four goals and Tiemann added 3 to go along with an assist.
The Bearcats return home on March 1 for their first home game of the 2021 season, when they host Regis University at 4 p.m. at Leemon Field.
