(LEBANON, Ill. – Feb. 15) – The No.14 McKendree University men's volleyball team will host another two-game series this weekend, with Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) rival Quincy University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Thursday, Feb. 18, and again on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:00 PM.
Nickie Sanlin's team made program history this past weekend, being ranked for the first time on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Men's Coaches Poll, coming in at No.14. This ranking follows the stunning performance by the Bearcats, taking 3-1 match wins in back-to-back games against Ohio State University. After Saturday's win, the Bearcats moved to 5-0 (4-0 in MIVA). They recorded 39 kills with a .296 hitting percentage.
Ethan Carroll (Barrington, IL/Barrington) led his team with 12 kills, adding one service ace, three blocks, one assist, and five digs.
Lucas Galifos (Mokena,IL/Lincoln Way East) ran the net with four blocks, also adding in one service ace.
Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, AZ/Boulder Creek) led his team defensively with seven digs, also adding in 29 assists.
About Quincy University
Quincy University is 3-4 (0-4 in MIVA) so far this season, after dropping three sets to Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon. The first set belonged to the Mastodons, while the second set was hard fought by both teams. Quincy would drop a close set, 25-27, and come as close as two points in the final set.
