The McKendree Bearcats baseball team was picked sixth in the blue division of the 2021 GLVC baseball preseason poll.
The annual GLVC Baseball Preseason Poll was voted on by the league's 15 head coaches and ranks the top eight teams in the Green Division and seven in the Blue Division.
McKendree earned 30 points which was five ahead of Missouri-St. Louis. Lewis (48) was ranked fifth while Maryville (60), Indianapolis (74), Southern Indiana (84), and Lindenwood (92) round out the top five.
Lindenwood received eight first place votes, while Southern Indiana received five and Indianapolis compiled two.
Before the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID the Bearcats has compiled an overall record of 6-9 and GLVC mark of 2-1.The Bearcats will open their season on Feb. 27 when they welcome Winona State to Hypes Field. McKendree is set to play a 39-game season along with 31 GLVC games.
