The McKendree University men's water polo team swept both of their opening Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) games on Saturday. This advances the Bearcats to the MAWPC West Championship game versus Gannon University.
Game 1 Highlights
McKendree kicked off their first game with a 26-9 win against Washington & Jefferson.
11 Bearcats made their mark on the scoresheet.
Andrew Serrano (Riverside, CA/Martin Luther King) led the team with five goals, followed by
Matthew Haygood (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) with four.
Nico Rodriguez (Bogota, Columbia/Oviedo) and
Tristen Clue (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) each scored three. Teammates
Josh Carlson (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln Way West),
Abraham Allen (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves),
CJ Brushwood (Gresham, OR/Sam Barlow High School), and
Chava Osorio (San Bernardino, CA/Cajon) all contributed two goals. Three other players registered one goal for the Bearcat win.
In the cage, senior
Ori Scanlon (Orlando, FL/Olympia) made 8/14 saves and two steals, while freshman
Jimmy Cronin (Naperville, IL/Metea Valley High School) made 7/10 saves.

Game 2 Highlights
The Bearcats wrapped up Day 1 with a 15-9 win against Mercyhurst.
Rodriguez and Haygood led the team in scoring with three goals each, while Serrano and
Pedro Osorio (San Bernardino, CA/Cajon) each contributed two.
Jackson Spencer (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West),
Adam Serrano (Riverside, CA/Summit View High School), Carlson, and Allen all made their mark in the game with a goal for the Bearcats.
Scanlon made 10/19 saves during the game against the Lakers.
These wins advance the Bearcats to the final game tomorrow at 1:30 pm EST, competing for the West Conference title against Gannon University.
