The McKendree University baseball team's offense was held in check by the Rockhurst Hawks in a doubleheader on Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo. The Bearcats lost game one 4-0 and fell in the finale 1-0.
How it Happened
Game One
The opening game of the doubleheader started with Rockhurst scoring a pair of runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Neither team could be a run across the plate until the fifth when the Hawks added a pair of insurance runs and the Bearcats committed a throwing error. McKendree's offense could not get going only compiling a pair of hits in the contest. The Bearcats would use four pitchers in the seven-inning game and gave up just five hits and only one earned run. Jacob Reinkemeyer (Wildwood, MO/Eureka) threw three innings while striking out two and walking one.
Game two
Game two was much of the same for the Bearcats offense. Rockhurst's pitching staff stifled McKendree's offense to just two hits again in game two. The Hawks scored the game's only run in the third inning. Evvan Spear's started on the hill for the Bearcats and threw great, giving up just one run on seven hits and also struckout five.
