McKendree Splits Double Header Against SBU

The McKendree University Baseball team split Saturday's doubleheader with Southwest Baptist, with McKendree taking game one 4-1 but falling in game two 18-11

Game One
 
McKendree got the action started early, with an RBI single from senior Austin Francis (Dupo, IL/Dupo). Graduate Student Bryce Emery (Harrisburg, IL/Harrisburg) would knock in another run in the fifth inning and in the seventh inning, junior Joseph Costanzo (Kansas City, MO/Rockhurst) would launch a two-run home run.

Senior Andrew Yancik (Glen Carbon, IL/Edwardsville) earned his second win of the year in 8 innings of work, he allowed 6 hits and struck out 7.

-Sophomore Cade Berendt (Germantown, WI/Germantown) picked up his first save of the year after throwing a scoreless ninth inning for McKendree

Game Two
 
Game two saw SBU's bats come alive early, with SBU putting up 12 runs in the first three innings, including a nine run third inning. While McKendree would put 3 runs on the board in each the sixth and seventh inning, the 12-run deficit would prove too great for McKendree.
