How it Happened
McKendree jumped out to 2-1 lead in the second inning after Junior
Corey Price (Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial) knocked in two runs on a single to left field.
The fourth inning would see McKendree surrender six runs to Southern Baptist. In McKendree's half of the inning graduate student
Jordan Richardson (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) would belt a solo home run to bring the score to 7-3.
McKendree would give up three more runs across the sixth and seventh inning but put a run up in the eighth inning on an RBI single from senior Ryan McCormick.
The ninth inning would see McKendree score two runs off a pinch hit double from junior
Joseph Copeland (Glen Carbon, IL/Edwardsville) and another single by Price, but SBU would hang on to split the weekend series 2-2 with McKendree.
