The McKendree University baseball team improved its record to 10-6 on the year after defeating the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks in both sides of Wednesdays doubleheade on Wednesday.
The Bearcats won game one by a score of 9-3 and game two 11-1.

How It Happened
McKendree got its bats going in the first inning after junior
Corey Price (Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial) and graduate student
Jordan Richardson (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) each knocked in a run to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead early on.
McKendree would strike again in the fourth inning with another three runs off an RBI single from senior
Connor McCormick (Manteno, IL/Manteno) and a 2 RBI double from
Joseph Costanzo (Kansas City, MO/Rockhurst).
The Mighty Oaks cut the lead to 5-3 after the fifth inning but McKendree would pull away following another RBI from Price as well as contributions from sophomore
Joseph Copeland (Glen Carbon, IL/Edwardsville) and senior
Austin Francis (Dupo, IL/Dupo).

How It Happened
The McKendree bats continued right where they left off in game one, putting up seven runs in the first three innings. Senior
Ryan Hutchinson (Sorento, IL/Greenville) drove in two runs in the second inning, and Hutchinson drove in another pair of runs in the third. In the sixth inning it would be Hutchinson again as he launched a two-run home run to center field for his fifth and sixth RBIs of the game.
Junior
Garrett Herring (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) made the start for the Bearcats and earned his first win of the season after five innings of scoreless ball in which he gave up two hits and struck out six.
