The McKendree University baseball team defeated No. 10Â Lindenwood Lions on Friday by final score of 10-2.
Todays win marks the first time the Bearcats defeated the Lions since April 5, 2011 when the Bearcats emerged on top 15-5.
How it Happened
McKendree got on the board early when
Jordan Richardson brought in two runs on a single down the left field line. McKendree would keep the pressure on the Lions, adding another two runs and one more in the third to give the Bearcats a 5-0 lead.
McKendree would add another four runs before the Lions would manage to get on the board with two runs in the eighth inning, but the deficit would be too much for the Lions to overcome.
In the home half of the eighth inning,
Hayden Schaefer would connect for his second home run of year to give the Bearcats a 10-2 lead.
Jared Timmerman earned his second win of the season after throwing seven and a third innings, allowing two runs and fanning six Lions while throwing 105 pitches.
