The McKendree University women's lacrosse team earned its 10
th win of the season following Tuesday's 22-15 win over Missouri Western State University.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first ten minutes behind goals from
Sydney Tiemann,
Jess Morey, and
Rylee Skachenko. The Griffons would net three straight goals to take a 4-3 lead, but
Sarah Hardin would tie the game, and later give the Bearcats a 5-4 lead.
McKendree would close the half on a 7-2 lead to give the Bearcats a 12-5 halftime lead. During the run, Skachanko and Tiemann netted two, and
Kat Albrecht, Hardin, and Morey each adding one.
McKendree would score the first four goals out of the break, and five of the first six, to jump open their lead to 17-7. The Bearcats would get another pair of goals from Tiemann and Albrecht, who finished with five and six goals respectively to lead the Bearcat offense.
Defensively, the Bearcats forced the Griffons to commit 20 turnovers, as well as fail six clears.
Following today's victory, McKendree has earned the third seed in the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. The Bearcats will rematch the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on April 30
th at 6:30 pm at Leemon Field.
