Bearcats Comeback Comes Up Short Against Flyers

The McKendree University baseball team fell to the Lewis University Flyers on Saturday by a final score of 6-5.

How it Happened
Game three of the weekend series started with each team scoring a single tally in the first. Sophomore Joseph Copeland brought in junior Corey Price on a sacrifice fly for the Bearcats.

Price would once again drive in a run after bringing home Bryce Emery after a single to take a 2-1 lead. Lewis would answer right back in its half of the inning with three runs of their own to take a 4-2 lead. The home team would add two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead, but the Bearcats would not go down without a fight.

The Bearcats started its comeback in the seventh inning. It was started when Ryan Hutchinson would drive in Austin Francis on an RBI double. Bryce Emery would follow that up with a two RBI single to bring McKendree within one. Unfortunately, the Bearcats could not finish the comeback off and fell 6-5.
