The McKendree University baseball team split Friday's double header with the University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles. The Bearcats won the opening game of the day with a an epic come-from-behind win 12-11 but fell in game two, 4-2.
Game One
Game one of the double dip saw both teams utilize the long ball. The Screaming Eagles started the long ball barrage with a two-run home run in the third inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
McKendree would respond in its half of the third inning when senior Hayden Scheafer belted his first home run of the year to cut the lead to 3-1
The fourth inning would begin with USI adding another three runs off two home runs to open up a 6-4 lead. In the home half of the fourth,
Jordan Richardson would bring the Bearcats within two when he drilled a three-run bomb over the left field fence.
The game would head into the ninth inning with USI leading 8-6. The visitors would add three runs of insurance to take an 11-6 lead into the bottom half of the ninth inning.
McKendree looked to be dead in the water but the offense had something to say about that. The inning would start when Schaefer would drive in two runs to close the gap to 11-8. Senior
Ryan Hutchinson would follow that up with a single off his own that drove in one run and cut the lead to two.
Bryce Emery was next and he would also drive in a run with a single and cut the lead to one.
With the Bearcats now down to their final out,
Corey Price would be the hero for the Bearcats. On a 3-2 pitch with two outs, the junior would send a line drive into the left center field gap and drive in a pair of runs for the Bearcats for the walkoff win.

Game Two
Game two began with UIS leaving the park again in the second inning and adding two runs in the fifth to give the Screaming Eagles a 3-0 lead after five innings.
The Bearcats would add two in the home half of the fifth inning but would fall short in the end.
Senior
Andrew Yancik would throw a complete game for the Bearcats but suffer his fourth loss of the season while recording seven punch outs and surrendering four hits.
