Baseball Honors Seniors to Wrap Up Season

(Lebanon, Ill)- The McKendree University baseball team concluded its regular season following two defeats at the hands of the Maryville Saints by scores of 4-11 and 8-10.

Game One
In the second inning, Maryville's Austin Tapella would take starter Jacob Reinkenmeyer deep for a solo shot to put the Saints up 1-0. The Bearcats would respond with a solo bomb of their own in the third inning off the bat of Mason Hale, his first of the year.
The Saints would regain the lead, putting two runs up in both the fourth and sixth inning to make the score 5-1.

Senior first basemen Channing Mickey, making his first start of the season, who launch a three-run bomb to left field, but the Saints would secure the victory with a 6 run seventh inning.

Reinkenmeyer would take the loss after going six innings and giving up five runs and striking out four.

Game Two
Game two was kicked off with an RBI double from the Saint's Ben Hopkins in the first inning. McKendree would gain the upper hand after a three run third inning courtesy of a Joseph Costanzo hit by pitch to tie the game, and a two RBI double from Brent Timmons.

After Maryville put up five runs in the sixth inning, the Bearcats would close the lead to 6-5 following a two-run home run from Jordan Richardson.

McKendree would enter the bottom of the ninth inning down 8-6, but Brent Timmons would send the game to extra innings with a two-run home run to left field.

The Saints would score two in the top of the tenth, and while McKendree would threaten with a runner on second in the bottom of the tenth, the Saints would hand on for the victory.

Jared Timmerman would take the mound for the Bearcats and close out his career with 8 innings of work, giving up four runs and fanning 12 Saints.
