INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University women's soccer senior midfielder
Emma Knoebel collected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week award as she led the bearcats to a pair of victories, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. Knoebel was also the last Bearcat to win the award (3/22/21).
The Maryville, Illinois-native garnered her second career Offensive Player of the Week honors (3/22/21, 9/13/21) after a stellar week which pushed the 22nd-ranked Bearcats to 3-0-1. Knoebel is no stranger to being the Bearcats go-to for penalty kicks, nabbing another game-winner against in-region Kentucky Wesleyan on September 8 in Owensboro. McKendree won the match, 2-0, behind an offensive bombardment with 32 shots fired and 16 on-frame. The midfielder also recorded a penalty kick game-winner against Missouri S&T on September 5 in overtime. In the opening GLVC match, Knoebel scored the first goal of the match to take the lead over rivaling Southern Indiana in the 34th minute, eventually winning the match 2-1. She sent two shots on-frame with one finding the back of the net.
This season, Knoebel has been a force on offense with seven points through four matches. The senior midfielder has averaged just over 90 minutes per match as two of four contests have gone to overtime while firing 10 shots with four on-frame. She has collected three goals and one assist to average 1.75 points per match and 0.75 goals per game. Knoebel ranks highly in the GLVC in multiple categories so far as well; points t-2nd (7, 1.75 per game), goals - 3rd (3, 0.75 per game), and game-winners - t-1st (2).

McKendree women's soccer will be back on the pitch on Friday, Septemebr 17 at 5 P.M. versus Lewis (3-0) in Romeoville. The Bearcats then return home for a matchup with the Greyhounds of UIndy on September 19 at Leemon Field.
