No. 15 Women's Soccer Plays to Second Draw of Season

The Bearcats controlled the ball and their offensive half but were unable to find the back of the net against the Flyers

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - McKendree University women's soccer remained unbeaten on Friday night but was unable to secure the victory against Lewis, playing to a draw after two full overtime periods. The Bearcats held a major possession and shot advantage in the contest.

McKendree held the possession advantage in the match overall, 58 percent to 42 percent, and kept the ball in its attacking half for 76 percent of its possession. The Bearcats sent six shots at the Flyers in the first 45 minutes and seven more in the second half of regulation. Five of the Bearcat attacks were sent on-frame but to no avail when the final horn sounded. The barrage of shots came from a multitude of McKendree players with seniors Emma Knoebel (MF) and Danielle Knutson (D) leading the way at three each. Junior midfielder  Allison Frederking, sophomore midfielder Reagan Mauch, sophomore midfielder Destiny Johnson, senior forward Morgan Cervera, and senior midfielder Riley Ross, all sent two shots a piece at the opposition.

Junior goalkeeper Abby Tucker logged the full 110 minutes for the Bearcats, collecting the two shots on goal from the Flyers. The two saves by the junior brought her season total to 11.

McKendree held a major advantage offensively but was not able to lock up its seventh-straight win over Lewis. The Bearcats were handed two yellow cards in the double-overtime match as well with sophomore midfielder Katie Spotanski getting one in the 60th minute and Mauch earning one just before the end of regulation in the 86th.
